"Oh, yeah. I just mean that I might have died young doing something stupid anyway."

He's at peace with this fact about himself.

"Maybe I should learn to look like a Sith. For emergencies."

"You probably could. Trickier than teekay, but I won't be surprised if it comes a little easier anyway."

Oh. That's pretty intriguing, actually.

"Can you teach me?"

It's probably more exciting than it should be, too.

"Sure." She gives him a squeeze and then flops backward onto the bed. "How are you for sensing the Force, if I do this can you see it?" she asks, sending it swirling through the space above her.

He reaches his hand out, up towards the swirls.

"More like...feel it. But in an, uh, outside-of-my-body way? Like I have nerve endings out above your head or something."

"Mmhmm. So what you're doing right now is like this," demonstration, "and Sith generally have something bolder and more freeform going on, like this," she demonstrates again.

"...I didn't even realize I was doing that."

Wow. The more you know.

He tries to just...reach out a little and change it, sculpt it. His hands move a little involuntarily.

"Yeah, that's the idea."

At first he's cautious with it, trying to pull his own aura into just the right shape.

Then he wrenches the right (piece? stream? thread?) out of place and he swears he can feel a crack, wet like dislocating bone.

"...Oh, that's cool."

He doesn't really look like a Jedi or a Sith anymore. Or even a person, aura-wise.

Her first instinct is to yank it back into place, and she gets as far as giving it a noticeable tug before she realizes that he's fine and backs off.

"Might mess you up, leaving it like that," she observes, after a second of concerned scrutiny.

He doesn't seem nearly as concerned as her about his own well-being. He's just "looking" at his own aura, completely fascinated.

"Mess me up, how?"

It twitches when he pokes at it, like it's halfway between one thing and another, shuddering between them.

"Depends what you did, I'd have to watch it for a while to figure it out. Mess up your senses or your natural healing or something, I dunno."

"...so...I probably shouldn't leave it on, then?"

He looks so reluctant.

"I wouldn't. Maybe you got lucky and it doesn't do anything, or doesn't do anything you'll mind, but I wouldn't bet that way."

"Aww. No fun."

He does shove it back into place, though, with an equally bizarre pop feeling. He's not sure if he's the only one getting this.

"I can always wreck it again if I'm feeling lucky."

She relaxes when it pops back into place. "Mmhmm. And it'd definitely work for making a Sith think you weren't a Jedi."

He nods, and then laughs.

"I didn't know you could pop an aura out of the socket before. The more you know, I guess."

He is very pleased with his discovery.

"Yeah."

"So your thing's going to be big effects without much finesse, looks like. I can work with that."

"Hey, I can totally do fine details, just...not with my brain. That's why I keep setting my fingers on fire."

"Mm?"

"I'm trying to make the set-things-on-fire-with-your-mind thing go through my fingertips. So I can actually focus it. It's really hard."

"Ah."

"Any reason you're doing fire?"

"Sculpture."

"Neat." She rolls over onto her side, to better see him.

"I mean, I bet I could use it for other stuff, but I haven't thought that far ahead."

He wiggles his fingers a little and looks aside at her.

"...Hi."
