A mostly quiet building.
There are dogs waiting for their owners, current or future or former, and an examination room, and a wooden counter between the office proper and the waiting room.
It's quiet, now quite a while since sunset.
The only employee is doing inventory.

He points at the dogs.

"If I am hungry and I eat, then I am no hungry. Then I was hungry. If I am tired and I sleep, then I was tired and am no tired. Understand?"
"Yes, kobold was there then, kobold is here now. Scott is no hungry now, Scott will be hungry later. Understand?"
She takes a few seconds to puzzle that one out, and then nods. "You are hungry now, you no eat then. You will be eat later, you will be no hungry later?"
"I will be, I will eat, I will drink, I will sleep. If I am hungry now and I no eat now, then I will eat later and I will be no hungry later."
"We were there before, now we are here. Later we go my home, if kobold want."
"If I can eat and I am hungry, I eat. If I can sleep and I am tired, I sleep. If kobold want understand, kobold can ask. Understand?"
He goes to one of the cages, and unlocks it.
He picks up the dog, and pets it gently. It whimpers, but calms down as he continues stroking.
"Is dog. Dog was there, now he is here. I pick up dog. "
"I look at dog. I can see dog. I do see dog."
He points at his eyes and at the dog, staring at it.
"Can kobold ilya go there no see? Can kobold ilya kobold and Scott home?"
"Less no. If I go there and ilvamem there, then I can ilva there, later. If there less there, more here, no go there, ilvamem there, ilva there. No need see, need ilvamem."
