"It was like a snake, but much bigger. And it had a mirror for a face."

"And you say it ate you? That's the last thing you remember?"

"I was there, it ate me, I was here. Ellayania said she killed it, right after that."

"Fascinating. It doesn't sound local, though. I suppose the details can remain a mystery.  Are you in the market for ways back home, or did you want to see if we can establish contact between our worlds?"

"I'd like to go back, eventually. But it sounds like this place has some problems of its own. I want to try to do something about them. I brought a piece of my goddess with me, so getting back is not as urgent as it could be."

"What's that like, carrying a piece of your god? What kind of relationship do you have with her?"

"It's like I have an awareness of her, in the back corner of my mind. I know she's watching me. She trusts me to represent her well, and I know she will help me when I need it."

"Is yor goddess interested in solving our problems, or is that you? Are you asking for her help, or is she encouraging you?"

"It's mostly me! It's sort of the point of an acolyte. She has a big plate, but there's still a lot on it. She helps when I ask, but she leaves me to decide what to do and how."

"Which problems are you most concerned about? We have recently become home to a serial killer of sorts."

"There's a whole list. Serial killers are distressing. Scott said I should talk to Stiles about that, but I haven't had a chance yet."

"What brought you to me?"

"I suggested it. Ms. Morrell ran into her outside the library."

"What exactly did she say?"

"I can show you, if exact behavior is important," Pascale offers, holding out her hand.

Well. He takes her hand.

And then he is on a bench near a bus stop, experiencing the interaction with Ms. Morrel through Pascale's own eyes, with complete fidelity.

That sure is a thing.

"Thank you. I think she was warning you. Maybe she was even trying to warn me, depending on what she knows...we'll have to be careful until we know more. Do you want more information about the current conflicts in town?"

"That would be helpful, yes!"

"Most worrying are the ritual murders, which are a mystery, but can be identified by a patter to the method that we're starting to notice. Another major concern is the alpha pack, who seem willing to kill to get what they want."

"What's the pattern?"

"So far, there have been five deaths. The methods to kill the first three differed from those used for the last two murders, and each set of three, will, I expect, have some distinguishing characteristic. The first three were all virgins, the last two were both military. I believe we are dealing with a Darach."

"I'm not familiar with the term."

"A mockery of what Druids stand for, a Darach tries to wield the magic of nature for their own warped purposes. Revenge, murder, violations of one kind or another- that is how a Druid becomes a Darach."

"I see. Can you tell if people are using that sort of magic in the area? Some kind of divination?"
