Seku follows along and doesn't mention things like 'I don't think I can afford to have a moral code I am committed to not breaking' or 'I definitely can't take time off after stressful events'. What good would it do?

Marlo is paying — more attention than he would generally prefer to admit to.

And Elvee wraps up with, "I think it makes sense for Marlo to help you. Jedi are supposed to prevent the existence of Sith, and neither of us want you to die, so it is probably the Jedi thing to do to give you things you need to help you stay non-murder-y."

"It's also the right thing to do."

....for a moment he wonders if —

"Thank you." He has that soft curled-shoulder smile again.

It is very important that Seku get to smile a lot.

"Although it might be hard because lots of things cost money and neither Jedi nor droids are allowed to own-- huh, apparently I know a lot about how to embezzle money from the Jedi Temple."

"I want to say I'm doing fine but I am really very much not."

"That has some implications. Seku, do you have a place to stay?"

"........kinda? I'm not on the street or anything."

"I think getting you stable housing is a good idea."

"I do too." He definitely thinks this because a stable living situation means Seku is less likely to go Dark Side, and not for — any other reason.

"I can try to see how out-of-date my information about embezzling money is and then give some of it to you?"

Marlo shouldn't be nearly as on board with this as he is, but the time for should seems to have passed. "Good plan."

"It makes sense," Elvee says to Marlo, "if the Jedi Council weren't so confused about how Grey Jedi work they'd want to spend money on getting Seku an apartment. New Sith are really bad and it's a cheap way of preventing him from becoming one."

"You don't need to convince me, I'm already convinced."

"But you feel guilty," Elvee doesn't say.

"Maybe we can start to teach Seku something he doesn't know, then," Elvee says. "Force listening?"

"— right, yes," and he's extremely inexperienced as a teacher but he can at least try to gesture at the steps involved in Force learning.

Elvee was programmed to be good at teaching, so together they'll be all right.

He doesn't pick it up quickly, but by the time they need to go back to the Temple he has picked it up nonzero!

"Seku is very good," Elvee tells Marlo after they've left.

"He is very good," Marlo agrees. "...I'm fairly sure I've met him before and I don't know where."

"Probably at an event?" Elvee says. "He was Minuial Vashtar's personal slave before his mysterious death."

His face goes very abruptly emotionless.

"— yes," he says, "that would probably be it."

Does he. Want a hug.

Once they're in private yes he would love a hug.
