Oh look he's blushing again!

"... Sorry," murmurs Aliveth, also blushing.

"Um. That's okay. Let's. Try that 'subject change' thing again, shall we?"

"Oh but it went so well the last several times we tried it," she says, wryly.

"Hope springs eternal?"

She giggles.

"I suppose so. Do you want to have lunch in the air, or on the ground?"

"Ground, I think. Seems more convenient."

"A bit. We won't have to go chasing after bits of food through the air."

He giggles at the image.

"A bird might come along and snatch it away just as we were about to catch it."

"But on the ground we will be safe from the feathery, thieving menaces."

"Not in my experience."

"No? Well, at least on the ground they can only come at us from one direction; up. In the sky, it could be any."

"That I'll concede."

"But if you have prior experience against the feathery menaces, please, tell me your wisdom. I am inexperienced in the ways of fighting birds."

"I've never fought a bird, but I've had my lunch stolen by one and I was not airborne at the time."

"Wait, you've actually had your lunch stolen by a bird?" she laughs. "I was joking!"

"Seagulls get very bold in some places!"

She giggles.

"Apparently! I'm - I'm trying to imagine your expression, it's. Do you think 'affrontedly bewildered' describes it, because that's how I envision it."

"That sounds very plausible. I'm afraid I wasn't looking at my own face at the time."

"Of course, of course. Oh well. My loss, for not having been there to see it."

"If only I'd known, I would've had someone take a picture."

"A - picture?" she wonders, tilting her head slightly.

"Yes? Oh, I suppose that's another magic thing you don't have. There's a kind of magic item that just - sort of draws whatever happens to be in front of it very very quickly and accurately, and then you have a picture of it."
