A third of the world is covered by the howling maelstrom that was born a century ago. It is not ordinarily a place you'd find people surviving, but sometimes things appear in it. Strange things - otherworldly things - brought into the mist of a howling storm of cloudy dust and wind that blows in whichever direction it wants.
She can give him directions and an approximate time at which she may be found there, which is about forty-five minutes after her actual guess.
In the meantime she squirrels Eefa away at Laithan's parents' place and apprises Laithan of the situation. "- so he gave up on the original form of the poster and now I'm stalling on the grounds that his boss's money sounds kind of fake and it might be fraudulent."
"Definitely rich, and I am unsure why someone would work for him, but it doesn't surprise me that they'd be frustrating."
"If he's rich that's why someone would work for him. Okay, so I can't get him on fraud, but I can't have those posters up, someone is going to want the money, is there some kind of - conspiracy charge or something -"
"We could just say that putting up posters that are meant to encourage the kidnapping of a citizen of Kenton isn't allowed? Though that would require admitting Eefa lives here."
"Right, I don't want to admit that at least not if I don't get to threaten to kill people for approaching her."
"I'd uh, prefer you didn't do that, yeah. What sort of conspiracy charge did you have in mind?"
"Conspiracy to engage in the slave trade. Since we do know that's what the posters are for."
"Yeah, we can say that... I wouldn't uh. Normally actually ban that since it's too difficult to enforce rules that require me to guess about what's going to happen outside of Kenton, but we can do it anyway in this instance."
"Yeah. In this case we don't have to guess. I get that it's not very - principled, but - so many people have seen her."
"Yeah.... I do expect that some people will travel between here and other places and put it together before long, but at least not having the signs would buy us time to figure out how to deal with Wendigo."
"Right." Sigh. "He should be here in about half an hour with one or more locals who are meant to corroborate how non-fraudulent the monetary offer is."
