[Because if people panic it may reduce our chances of surviving, whatever they currently are because I have no idea.]

[You could at least think of a good point to tell people!]

[A good point would probably be more reliant on the delivery, but yes, I take your point.]

[So when are you telling people?]

[I haven't decided in the past twenty seconds and it might be worth checking with the driver how long it'll take to get there, don't you think?]

[...fine.]

He does so.

[Another half hour.]

… He catches Dayo up on the situation.

[She has a point.]

[She does. But I don't know how to break it to everyone that everyone on the other two trucks mysteriously went unconscious.]

[I mean, you, too, have a point. Tell her we'll tell everyone in half an hour?]

[Sure.]

And to her: [Do you have strong feelings against waiting the half hour it'll take to get there?]

[...fine,] she repeats.

Back to waiting, then.

Twenty-eight minutes later: [We're almost there,] the driver sends.

[Thanks.]

To Dayo: [Should we give the speech now or once we've stopped, do you think?]

[- once we've stopped and everyone's wondering where everyone else is.]

[Explain the other vehicles were going a different way, then everyone went unconscious when I tried questioning them, or… do we tailor it somehow? I'm not sure there's a need, but, just checking.]

[Let's just—tell everyone at the same time, no tailoring.]

Nod.

They feel the truck slow down and stop, then accelerate again, slow down, and stop a final time. The door's opened, and they find themselves in what looks like a large garage. In addition to the driver there are a couple armed people guarding the only door meant for humans.

People start streaming out of the truck and... look around, bewildered at the lack of other trucks.

Anthony tries not to look too awkwardly conspicuously guilty of horrible crimes.

Really, he's not.

"...hey, what's up? Where are the other two trucks?" someone asks.

"… Unfortunately there was an issue," says Anthony, "with the – operation."

Cough.
