She looks around to make sure no-one else is listening, steps in:

"Three gold."

"...That's a lot. That's a full set of un-enchanted armor. Or at least a couple months of tuition somewhere."

"Thought as much, given you were released with only one and that bought you a boat."

"It was a pretty little boat, to be fair. The only reason I trusted myself on the ocean with it is because of the Deep Ones."

She nods. "In any case, bank?"

"Yep, bank. Pay our month's dues probably too? It's worth it for things like the bank. Not to mention dungeon access."

"Good call."

And off she goes.

Abyssia follows. Nothing terrible happens to them while using the Guild's bank services and paying up.

"And now we have your captain." She smiles at Bys. "Let's go have a chat."

"Yeah."

The harbor area is built into the river, with several tall bridges in the distance. The ship Bys has selected is an almost Greek looking design, with small sails and blocky construction.

Its captain is a green-scaled lizard person wearing a fancy blue coat and very large hat. "So, you're the other one who wants a ride!"

She nods. "I am, Captain. What would you like to know?"

"Captain Szarn. That you're real. That you've got a tinbadge," he says referring to the adventurer's guild badge, "and that you tell me to my face that you're not in trouble or anything. I'm pretty good at reading people, even humans, if I'm allowed to puff myself up."

"Yeah, I've got that for you just one second -" She digs her badge out of her pack. "Here. And no, I'm not in trouble with the law or anybody."

Szarn peers at her. "...Hokay. Your friendo says she knows a boat, that right?"

"Yes, like I said," Abyssia says a bit tiredly.

"Right. Passage for two, less an extra hand, will be two silver. And just to check, you don't mean anybody any harm, do you?"

"Yes, she knows a boat. And I mean no-one harm. Here's your two silver." She pulls it from her belt pouch and offers it.

"Good to do business with you. Let's get you your cabins. You can sleep here now or show up later, but we leave at dawn."

She looks to Bys. "I think I'd prefer to sleep aboardship. Cheaper."

"Sure. We'll be on it for a while anyway, one more night doesn't make a difference. What are you going to do while I'm busy working?"

"Look around the ship. Repair things. Practice some of my Skills in the privacy of my cabin. Listen to people's stories. Learn some sea shanties. The usual."

"As long as you won't be too bored. I'm a little nervous, honestly. Never been to a city before."

"I won't be bored, trust me. As for cities - they can be a shock, yes. But I trust you. You'll be fine."

Bys gives her a kiss on the cheek.

After another hour at the inn, to clean and reload and pack for travel, they can move both their packs to Captain Szarn's ship, which is crewed by a 50/50 mix of lizard-like people and humans, with one animalperson - some sort of wolfman who keeps to himself. The lizardpeople are apparently very fond of gossip and ask for deets- how and why they like each other- when they learn Thorn and Bys are a couple.

"I kind of hit on her a lot, because she's my type, and she said yes. After we learned to trust each other from fighting together. It wasn't all smooth - I took a risk to protect her, she chewed me out for it - but in the end it worked out. You find love in the strangest places, hm?"

Indeed, indeed! One of their friends is pining for his wives who are home with their other husband, and those two keep breaking up and getting back together, being too close too much isn't great for them, and everyone agrees that this one woman is kind of a bitch but the captain likes her and she is a hard worker at least, so... (Lots of personal gossip like this will be dumped on her.)

She listens and filters. Anything could be useful in a strange and uncertain world. And at least it'll keep her from getting bored.
