Seattle Mixer

Cascadia Esper Network, when they host mixers in Seattle, rents out the MoPOP (formally known as the EMP, informally known as "that funny-shaped building") and brings in catering. It works really well - there's lots of floor space for the main area for tables of catered food and for espers to mingle, and they bring cozy couches into various side rooms. The giant screen that adorns one of the walls of the main area has a map of rented space with rooms marked by function.

This time, the event caterers brought tiny pre-assembled tacos, mini-quiches, and sliders, all thoughtfully labeled and each coming with a vegan option, set up on a series of tables scattered around the space. There's relaxing music playing at an esper-friendly volume (which is to say, not especially audible to non-espers).

The doors open around 5 pm.

There's a blue girl, short for an esper, leaning against one of the walls munching on a small plate of sliders and listening to her own music in one ear from a pair of slightly-skewed high-end headphones.

(Reve enjoys esper mixers! People to meet, stories to be shared, and if she's lucky, snuggles to be had. If she's very lucky, maybe a compatible dungeon partner? But she got here early to avoid being three hours late, and she knows the other half-dozen people who were here when the door opened, they're all locals and none of them are compatible with her and she's already chatted with all of them.)

Robin is one of the first people in the doors! After the locals, anyway.

He isn't hurting so much for a partner - Chris is fine, he doesn't usually do dungeons unless it's to help with cleanup - but he always comes to nearby mixers to meet more people and talk about his pet projects.

And also to make sure Caine shows up and doesn't spend the whole time on the ceiling, or something.

Caine is here. Unfortunately. He is hiding standing behind Robin at the snacks table, looking out a window while he works his way through a plate of tiny tacos.

This is fine! Anyone who comes up to meet Robin will see him, so he can hide as much as he wants for now.

Ophira's train ran late, but she still feels much better prepared for this mixer than her last; she's armed with much more information on agencies and actual power testing results.

(And she's much less exhausted from the journey; no overnight trains this time.)

She's still going to watch for a bit before she circulates, though.

Oh! Those are new people over there! Reve slides her headphones off, turns up her music slightly (at this volume she can hear it concurrently with the event's BGM, and that suits her just fine), and bounces over towards the redhead to say hi.

(On her way, she spots the young-looking purple girl and smiles at her.)

(...Ophira smiles back, but she's not approaching three people at once.)

Robin notices the tiny blue girl approaching! Maybe she's getting tacos or something, but she's in range for an introduction, so:

"Heya! Here for more snacks? I can recommend the carne asada, the caterers here did it right."

Dana and Brandon arrive together at a "fashionably late" time.

She is not shy. She is not a prude. But her awakening was not even six months ago. Esper mixers to meet people to professionally-snuggle-if-not-more-because-it-saves-lives is not that easy to get used to, okay?

Dana is wearing a nice simple but elegant navy-blue dress with a Lighthouse pin. She will take a varied sample of what they are serving (Ooh, mini-sliders!) and look around the room. Is it rude to improve her eyes enough to take a "closer" look from where she is standing? Probably not, and it is not like they are going to be walking around trying to hide something... except that guy that was hiding behind the other.

Brandon does not like being late, but Esper mixers are just an excuse to make "get a bunch of people to handshake" something elaborate enough to be worth doing it.

Since they arrived together, and both have lighthouse pins, people might realize that they are in the same guild and already aware if they are compatible. Brandon does not expect people to be that sensible, but he also kinda does not want to leave the baby esper alone. He will compromise by being in her general vicinity, close enough to pay attention, far enough to not look like a pair.

(Or so he hopes. A quiet voice in the back of his head says that being an Esper for 3 years do not make him an expert. That voice can shut up).

Brandon is wearing a nice leather jacket and jeans. He looks good, but far from formal. Fuck being formal, he prefers guiding from people without sticks up their ass.

Robin continues to be holding the fort by the tacos!

There's a new arrival over here; a boy with hair streaked a mixture of black and white. He's dressed like he was optimizing for looking like a rebel and showing skin, though the clothes are reasonably nice.

He has a friend with him, wearing a non-esper wristband despite the pink hair, and dressed in gradients of pink and purple.
