Woo-young is a high-priority national asset. He is arguably a high-priority international asset, but Si-yeon works for the Korean government, so that's what he knows. He is the backbone of so many systems, emergency systems and esper systems and logistics. It would not be an immediate catastrophe if he died, because they've got enough of his power stored in batteries for a gradual transition to different, worse systems, but it would be catastrophic anyway.

You'd think this would mean that they ought to never send him into dungeons. This is doubly true now that his partner, who had the ability to literally stop a bullet in its tracks, who could prevent anything and anyone from getting to Woo-young, is dead. It's a huge liability. And yet, they still do plan on sending him into dungeons.

And that's because...

Several years ago, a Japanese S-rank precognitive had his backlash outed. He became pliant, as if under hypnosis, and would tell you anything you wanted to know. This was a disgrace, and he was unable to keep working after that came out.

Or so it seemed.

Si-yeon doesn't know the full details of that man's powers. They're not public, they've never been fully public. From what he can tell, though, it's... scary good at some things. Scary, scary good. S-ranks are scary. And so it was that a few years ago, when that precognitive's backlash came out, the government of Korea hired him. He has been working for Korea since, and he has one and only one responsibility.

His full-time job is keeping Min Woo-young alive.

Today, he told Quasar that Min Woo-young should not go into that dungeon he was scheduled to go into. They should put him somewhere else. So Min Woo-young didn't go, and now Min Woo-young is alive.

Tae-hwan isn't.

Ha Si-yeon doesn't know how long he's been crying on Chun-hee for, and he can't tell her, because all of this is classified. He can't tell anyone. His handler with the Korean National Intelligence Service knows, of course, but they're not the kind of friends who can hug, Si-yeon can't cry on him. So instead Si-yeon is crying on Chun-hee, and she's confused because it's not like Si-yeon was even that close with Tae-hwan.

But the thing is that Si-yeon knows.

He almost never wishes he didn't know. But right now, he does.
