Wow, that's kind of cool, and unlike being tempted to watch Orion Lake fight a digester, neither of them will kill him if it gets the upper hand!

Actually maybe she is inhumanly good, being able to leap over your opponent is one thing, being able to jump onto your opponent and keep your balance as they attempt to dislodge you is another.

There's magic for that!

Bella's dad took her to the circus once when she was seven. This is oddly reminiscent.

Eventually Lisao manages to dislodge her, which she seemingly effortlessly converts into a backflip, twisting away from the followup blow.

Lanhua's hyper-elven dexterity is ANNOYING but Lisao is, at least, able to keep on the offensive; being able to balance on the edge of a riftblade (probably not literally but WHO KNOWS) is less useful for punching than for dodging.

Bella and Caio experiment with Sendings to one another to carry on a nondistracting conversation while they wait for it to be over. For all they know the dorm won't let them in without a key card.

Eventually Lanhua gets Lisao in a pin and the latter yields. They confer briefly, and then both head over to Bella and Caio.

"This is Lǐ Lánhuā. She's an Elf! Lánhuā, these are Bella and Caio, two of our interplanar visitors, I haven't met the third."

"Hi! I am told you're new to the concept of non-human humanoids."

"Yup, wizards aren't really a separate species. Nor do people turn into them, we're just born this way."

"Neutrals aren't really a separate species either. I have to say I recommend the turning into things bit." She turns into a raven and flutters to perch on Lisao's head.

"Ooh, neat. I think that's usually too expensive for wizards unless it's their affinity."

"I had a lab buddy sophomore year whose affinity was shapeshifting but he got himself killed in Shop that July."

She flutters off her friend and resumes human form. "I'm sorry to hear that."

"Should we cut it out with anecdotes that end in death?"

"I mean, I'm not the dead person or the dead-adjacent person! I'm not gonna tell you to stop talking about it, I'm just gonna confirm that it sucks whenever it comes up."

"That's legit. It's just a whole heck of a lot of kids at our school die so it might get tiresome.."

"I can shut up about it."

"Not gonna bother me."

"What about you?" she asks Caio.

"If it's going to be a downer I should learn to stop sooner or later. Plenty of people didn't die! More than usual even!"

"I don't feel downed, I feel sympathetic."

"I have no idea what the etiquette is on making people sympathetic."

"Does there have to be etiquette? You can just say what you feel."

"Someone started a group therapy session in the Scholomance. It was widely assumed to be a loyalty test or possibly just a total failure to be in touch with reality by its relatively well advantaged founder."
