it is a truth universally acknowledged that a supervillain in possession of good taste must be in want of a nemesis (or, meguca Ruby cross drops on Worm)

"So... If I kill the Simurgh, I get a spaceship?"

"...Okay, exactly how powerful is your system?"

Shrug! "I mean, I'd need to get creative and do some research, but I'm pretty sure something exists in the same concept space as 'fire tiger' that could work."

Okay it is actually kind of funny watching someone else have the reaction.

"Our powers are conceptually based. The limits are in what we can get to accord with the, hm, story of them."

"You're sandbagging like hell, then."

Nod. "It's more fun that way."

(She's kinda glad they killed Jack Slash already; hopefully Ruby would've just called the S9 boring before collecting their bounties, but, well. She's actually pretty damn sure Jack was either a subtle human Master or – more likely – a social Thinker, not that Jack ever seemed to notice.)

"Killing the Simurgh might be more complicated than 'maximum fire tiger,' though..."

Anakin nods. "I'm prescient, and I've got a bad feeling about a direct confrontation – no matter what kinds of firepower we can bring to bear. Otherwise, I'd be asking my son to dig up certain artifacts, or see if anyone has a Star Destroyer to spare, or I'd take the gamble that her Song can't affect Force ghosts and try to tear her apart directly with the Force."

"And for power context, my civilization is fully capable of glassing planets, and we until recently had weapons that could simply blow one up."

"...I don't think any meguca has ever managed that kind of firepower..." It'd take her a lot of practice to hit that, if nothing else; practice that's dangerous to do when she's attached to the planet she's standing on. "But that doesn't mean we can't strike her from another direction..."

"Probably healthier overall, anyway."

"Going to require a lot of research, though. I'll see what I can scry up, to start..."

"Try not to attract attention while doing so, hm?"

"I'll be careful."

"She can be subtle when she wants to, don't worry."

"There's some information gathering I can help with, likely."

Works!

For now, she's got questions – about the Force, about the galaxy, about Anakin's own past and how she ended up as a ghost of all things...

She demures on details about her own life beyond a distant summary, but she's happy enough to talk about the rest.

Good good.

After a bit of this: "Oh, hey, do you guys have a place to stay already? I can spot you a hotel room if not."

"No, we have yet to seek accommodations in this city."

"Pretty sure this one has some vacancies; I'll let them know to put y'all on my card."

"Most appreciated, thank you."

She handles that, then gives them her card for good measure if they want to handle talking to the front desk. Pick a room and all.

Acceptable. Then they will speak later.

Whenever's good.

Once they're gone, Ruby breathes out heavily and flops back on their bed.
