The shoving in the immediate makes her wince and flinch - but no-one seems to be getting hurt? It's...strange.

And the girl... she's not scared to use her powers? (But that's a good ability, floating doesn't hurt anyone.) Blaze watches, a little bit enviously (sometimes being able to just float away from everything would be nice).

A few heads turn their way but they're looking at Edie much more than Blaze.

She can tell they're not really looking at her, and she feels silly that it still makes her feel self-conscious, still makes her half-hide behind Edie. (Although she doesn't exactly understand why they're looking at Edie either.)

Edie can't wrap an arm around her at this angle, but she sends a similar emotional state.

She relaxes a little bit at that, but still stays close. She doesn't want to risk someone else trying to talk to her right now, aware after this morning that she is hopelessly lacking at ability to do so.)

They reach the cafeteria without incident.

She doesn't exactly relax, but she does get a little bit excited about eating. The food here tastes nice, and is actually properly filling. (And there's that smile again, although behind it, there's still worry about how much she's going to owe.)

Well, only time will solve that. They get food. Edie doesn't get very much, this time; it's not actually normal lunchtime yet so she's not very hungry.

Blaze does look a little awkward at that. "I- could have waited?" she says quietly. (She is clutching her plate slightly.)

"No," she says firmly. "It's fine. I'll have more next time you're hungry; you need food at more frequent intervals because you haven't been getting enough."

"O-Okay," she agrees quietly. (She hadn't starved.) "Thank you." She's more successful at eating at a more reasonable pace this time, although still fairly quickly.

"There's a difference between 'enough to keep you alive' and 'enough to keep you healthy' much less 'enough to keep you and the baby healthy'."

She flinches a tiny bit at that, almost as if it's a judgement on her. "I- tried," she says quietly. "When I ran. But."

"Of course," she says. "It's not your fault you didn't have enough food."

She's really not used to someone telling her something isn't her fault - more often than not she was being told that everything that happened to her was her fault. "How can- you be so sure?" (The reassurance does help some, just...it's confusing.)

"You were resorting to things that had you that scared to get money. If you'd had more ability to get food why would you have done that?"

"I-" she doesn't have an answer to that, so settles for a slight shrug.

"So. Obviously not your fault."

"O-okay." That still feels weird to try and accept, but Edie sounds so sure.

Blaze finishes eating in silence.

Edie will lead her back to the library, then. More reading lessons?

Definitely! Blaze continues to be an eager and focused student.

Edie is so appreciative!

"If you ever enter formal classes the teachers will love you."

She blushes and smiles a little, but shakes her head. "I don't... know anything?" she points out. (Nothing academic at least.)

"Well, maybe not yet, but that's what classes are for! And you're an amazing student."

She giggles again and blushes more. "I- just." She wants to say she's not, but she has no idea how that's even quantified, and Edie probably knows better than her? "It's...nice? And...interesting?"
