"And now you get the additional complication that in addition to whatever I've yet to rub off of Angband, I feel this ridiculous fear that being in love with people puts them in danger if I suddenly turn into a monster."

"...even if it is contagious Elspeth was there for years."

"She might have a personality immunity. I do not endorse my worry that I'll wake up one day a monster, but I don't think that's very good evidence that it's safe."

"I suppose we could quarantine more aggressively..."

"Not sure that helps. I concur in your assessment that my alt's more dangerous with less information, for example. Just - I keep thinking of ways to pull it off and they're so easy and I realize it's stupid but it's stupid in a persistent and distracting way -"

"Would it get this out of your system to actually chain me to a wall for a bit while I roll my eyes at you or is that barking up the wrong tree?"

"...it might get it out of my system for you to beat me at evil Governor. But the fear isn't that somewhere deep down I find being a rapist appealing, it's that if I did nothing would stop me, and apparently my ethics are detachable!"

"Well, I am happy to play evil Governor with you, but I don't think you're going to hit your head one day and detach them, this is clearly a really long term problem on Midnight's part."

"Yeah, he really struggles with it, doesn't he.

...if it's contagious or otherwise caused and they manage to cure it I bet he'll wish we had executed him."

"...and would he endorse that wish or would he fling himself at fixing his world up nice to make amends?"

"...the latter, if he's actually uniquely qualified for it and a space fork wouldn't do..."

"So let's not?"

"Let's not if it's caused and curable. Otherwise we still probably should."

"I still don't see what it'd help. Maybe unless you think Macalaurë may have a personality immunity."

"Not at all, but he'd be much easier to keep an eye on."

"And so constructively disposed after we killed his brother?"

"There is that."

"Anyway. If I wake up one day to discover I am being dragged to your rooms and I was not pleasantly anticipating this beforehand I promise not to be present for the experience."

He flinches.

"I remember very well the feeling of sizing up every word everyone said for moments that were out of character and sometimes I say things to you and think I'm seeing that calculation and maybe I'm just projecting it but I'd have hidden it better, if I had any idea how much it hurts, to be constantly perhaps a monster - and that's a separate thing from my evil alternate but it doesn't - doesn't feel separate - please don't do that to your head again, I have no idea how we'd get you back this time -"

Hugs. They're standing in the middle of the street and it'd be inconvenient if anyone were visiting from home because it's a rather desperate hug.

Hugs. Should I not have said that, I wasn't sure whether to say it - I'm usually not actually sizing anyone up like that -

No, it's - sensible thing to say - shouldn't even freak me out, seeing as I have no intentions of - I think I realized I was in love with you when the Enemy said I was going to be a mass murderer and you snuck in my bedroom window to make sure I got hugged and then set yourself to making sure he was wrong about that -

I love you.

We shouldn't execute my alt I just childishly wish it were the right thing to do.

It'd be very neat that way.

I keep thinking if we'd found them before Elspeth did -
