For now, I do not believe these precautions will be necessary. A comprehensive defense would require protections against a wider array of threats. I do not know of very many good options, unless you want to stay sealed away in here. I expect that would be rather counterproductive. Our best bet would probably be purchasing a casting of refuge from a cleric. It's a permanent seventh circle teleportation that will return you on command to a fixed location anywhere on the planet once. It cannot bring you here.

I can handle the cult. I would like a few minutes notice to prepare before we return to Korvosa. Is there anything else you think I would like to know?

The cult's items were worth a substantial amount of money, so if you instead of the Guard will be cleaning out the area you may find yourself with more money than you expected. If you leave enough traces for the Guard to verify the presence of the cult it will disrupt some of my currently active plans less, but the choice is yours.

You might want to know the effect of whatever you and Toff Ornelos did to the Temple of Asmodeus. It caused a blinding flash of light from the sky, a wave in the air strong enough to crack windows and nearly knock me down, and hundreds of deaths in the rubble nearer to the area. I don't know what it was but it was incredibly destructive, and I saw no devils emerging from the temple afterwards. You might want to know the recipe for the plague cure, in case it does spread and Togomor's cure attempt fails. It is as follows.

She begins to send the recipe for the cure. It's long, and she gives the sense she's trying not to think of something as she goes. She seems terrified.

It seems that weapon is more destructive than she expected. Hmm. Probably best not to use it in Korvosa this time.

Are you okay? You don't need to give me the recipe for the cure now.

No. She stops the recipe, and— You might want to know more about Ulon. To understand Ulon, you first need— Her mental voice cuts off entirely, and she completely stops moving. She twitches, a little, but none of her movement could plausibly be communicative. A close examination will reveal that she is breathing, but almost silently. Morgethai recognizes the telltale initial signs of someone failing to follow their Geas.

Felandriel dismisses the lesser geas. This is why she doesn't like using geas spells. She hasn't seen a reaction this bad in quite some time. Someone needs to hurry up and invent a wizard version of zone of truth already.

Tencednil drops like the geas was holding her up, and takes a few minutes to breathe.

Sorry. I had no way to continue that in a way which would improve your understanding of the situation, and I realized I could try to signal panic and then I realized that would be communication and then I couldn't move at all, and it kept pushing me to answer. If you do want to know more about Ulon we will have to do it later, and with a different geas.

She will take her time recovering if she is left to it, but within ten minutes she will be ready to go.

Felandriel will let her recover in peace.

Isaac wandered off at some point during the telepathic conversation.

She approaches Tencednil once she starts looking noticeably better. I would like to know more about Ulon as you would describe him without a geas or other compulsion.

Understanding that would take time, but we can begin at the beginning, with the context necessary for any understanding of Ulon. Give me a moment. She pauses. Alright, I think I have it.

The first thing to know is that everything I am going to tell you is false, and most implications of anything I am going to tell you is false.

Ulon is a being of miscommunication, who rules and lives within only unclear statements and the implications left behind.

The proper next phrase is written, so mention if this does not work.

Hyba pna bayl or erzrzorerq jurer abar pna bireurne.

—Oh, Ulon is at times referred to as Hyba. You may have heard of Hyba as a female deity with similar traits to Ulon, but to my understanding they are in fact the same.

Ulon's teachings cannot be communicated.

Ulon must be understood alone.

Ulon teaches only what we should already know.

The best way to understand Ulon is to consider the stories I tell you here and find the one who lives within them.

Ulon is the center of every story I tell you.

This is the phrasing of the initial glimpse of Ulon by which I was taught, and I think it is all important context to have before starting any of the stories. I also don't know how to pass them along well, because in some places the exact phrasing and tone and context matter, and while I might be able to do that right I don't think I know exactly which parts are important. I can't do it justice with an illusion, even if I had a way for an illusion to speak comprehensibly. Possibly you have a spell for this? If not, I can try to figure something out.

It's obviously not literally impossible to communicate Ulon's teachings. That doesn't mean it won't be incredibly annoying.

Major image can do speech but I don't have a scroll of it on hand. It would take a couple of hours to scribe and it's not worth it if you're not sure it would help.

I'm not. You have a spell for reading my memory, and that might work? My memories should hold all the relevant information, even if I can't put it in words. That might not work any better than reading my memories of previous loops does, but it wasn't in a different loop, so maybe it would.

That spell is higher circle than I would like to spend right now. I will try it again after we deal with the cult. Do you have any insight into why attempting to read your memories fails?

None whatsoever, unfortunately. If you are resolving the cult I will not be working directly with the guard, so if you wish to find me again I may be out of Korvosa at that point. Should I leave a lock of hair with you for use in scrying me in that case?

I also will not be available to send the cure instructions, which might be necessary depending on what if anything you plan to do with Ileosa and whether the plague is already spreading. I can copy it down for you to provide, in that case. She can't actually use whatever the Bank would pay for it anyway, and Morgethai through a remote account is as good as anyone else who could get it. Other than that I am prepared whenever you wish to depart.

A lock of your hair would be appreciated.

Felandriel leads Tencendil to an outdoor desk at the edge of the glade. Papers are scattered across it. There's a pen and ink set within arms reach. Please document what you know of the cure. I need a few minutes to prepare. Then we will return to Korvosa.

Her hair is long enough that a meaningful amount comes away when she brushes it aggressively. About once a month, she leaves the results with Mother, in case she needs to hire a Scrying on Tencednil for some reason. The rest of the time she leaves any gathered hairs in the small jug of water which they use as a disposal method. Mother Purifies it regularly, and they run much less risk of someone gathering hair by searching through their rubbish. To provide a lock for Morgethai without being noticed is therefore quite easy — she unfolds her anytool into a hairbrush, and within minutes she has the hair.

The cure takes somewhat longer. Lhín is the one who remembers it well, and Lhín seems to have vanished in the second demiplane and not come back. She gets a sketch of the necessary procedure down, though, along with a note on the mechanism of action. Morgethai can probably figure it out from there. Being a wizard is helpful with many things.

Felandriel wanders away into the woods.

A few minutes pass by.

Isaac emerges from the woods and walks into the glade. It's Felandriel. You're ready to leave?

One moment, I'm finishing this. My familiar is the one who remembers it well, and she vanished in the demiplane before getting here.

She doesn't take that long to finish her writing.

Now I'm ready.

Gallipsiwhoop swoops down and lands on Isacc's shoulder. He's tiny.

Everyone link hands.

She reaches out to Isaac.

Plane shift.

They appear on a beach. The ocean extends ahead of them. Craggy cliffs loom behind them.

Greater teleport.
