Shadi waves but otherwise does not speak.

The last two cultists are dead. The wizard is still restrained. The cleric is paralyzed and will be dead soon.

"It's good to meet you two as well! Like Detective Navarro said, I'm a sorcerer. I have Color Spray and Minor Image at first. I also have another one I call Moon's Reflection. It can blind enemies for a moment and I can put it on other people's weapons, so it I put it on yours you can blind things! At second I have something like Burst of Radiance and Invisibility. I don't know if it doesn't hurt people like a cleric's Burst of Radiance, so I'm going to try not to catch any of you in the area."

She did spend a while in Morgethai's demiplane, so they don't have as much time for planning as before. They still have long enough to do some, though, and it will almost certainly be long enough for Morgethai to finish the cult off. She settles in for some tactical talk.

There were some zombies, but that's everything I expect if the daemon stayed in its tube.

The other members of her squad are happy to talk tactics before they leave.

You did not mention the vampire wizard behind the secret door. I have him frozen solid.

I did not know there was a vampire wizard behind the secret door! I knew there was an alchemist's lab behind there, but I never saw anything come out. I suppose he escaped when the guard came in.

Navarro stands up. "That will be quite useful. If we're all ready, I think we best get going."

Their squad leaves Citadel Volshyenek and travels up through Midland. They cut across North Point and over the bridge into Old Korvosa. It's east from there into Bridgefront.

The vampire is dead. This is why you should always bring a wooden stake with you when traveling. Just in case.

I'm collecting the cult's magic items and other treasure. I will also take the vampire with me when I leave. He will remain dead only so long as the stake pierces his heart.

She follows along. She knows this route by now.

The statue of Urgathoa should be enough to demonstrate the cult exists, if you take only the plating and not the underlying statue. You may want to spoil their disease vats, but possibly leave one unspoiled enough to use in cure research. It might be necessary, and I expect Korvosa will do better if they can see a way to a cure instead of waiting for you to demonstrate one. The choice is yours. Some of the notes from the cultists were also useful in cure research the first time if you want to leave those behind as well, but I don't know which.

"Now, this is... not the best area of town, but I don't expect anyone to bother us. Garril tends to intimidate."

Garril chuckles.

The Guard has all the evidence they need, what with the giant mural on the ceiling and the dozen holy symbols of Urgathoa on the corpses. I won't bother with mundane items of low value and the notes are useless to me. Some of the vampire's books are more interesting and I will be taking those.

That makes sense. I expect the vampire's books vanished with the vampire, I do not know if they matter. Without the cultists trying to spread the disease, the wand of Remove Disease shouldn't be important, and other than that I don't remember any items the guard needed for anything beyond resale value. That should be just as good in your hands.

There probably isn't much more to say, but if Morgethai asks any more questions she will certainly answer them.

Soon after they enter Bridgefront, they reach a familiar sewer entrance.

"Here we go. Masks up, everyone!" Navarro pulls open an old wooden door and walks into a tunnel.

I believe I've collected everything of value. I will be leaving now. I will return to deal with the conspiracy, but not today. Good luck.

And to you. Dealing with the conspiracy? Not going to try to use the Gate to get at the Most High or at Cheliax, then. ...And probably no Wishes, unless she's feeling particularly Abadaran. That's unfortunate.

She dons her mask and descents. No Lhín this time, so she will have to keep her eyes open herself or rely on human vision in the dark. So it goes.

Navarro leads them into the dark tunnels. This section of the sewers is cramped and somewhat claustrophobic. Instead of descending a ladder in one of the otyugh chutes, they slowly make their way through a winding maze of utility tunnels. It doesn't smell quite as bad as being next to open sewer water. They're deep within this place when a man in tattered robes rounds a corner around twenty feet ahead of them.

He holds his lantern forward. "Hello! We're with the Guard. Who are you?"

The man growls at Navarro and gives him a baleful glare. His body shifts unnaturally into the form of a humanoid rat.

Behind him, a group of four dire rats crawl along the walls and ceiling.

She looks around for the other wererat, but she can't spot it. "Looks like an ambush! There may be another behind!"

Three of the dire rats run forward and leap at Garril. One of them pierces the armor on his leg.

Navarro skewers one of the dire rats to death on his rapier.
