"For coffee?" she asks in Latin English her native language.

Back to Japanese.  "Do you have a favorite subject in school?"

"English. But I think in Japan English class will be boring."

"You like books more than words," she assesses.

"Yes. Also, I like being the best in a class. But, I do not think I like being the best in this way."

"...A school does not say good things to me, if it makes us study English as words the same as students who don't know it.  Will this be true?"

"I think it will be a little true. I hope I can read a book in class."

Not only can that definitely not be positive for their development, no sane person can possibly think that it would be.  This is a really bad sign.  "Can we take a test to say that we know it?  No?"

"Maybe when we are older."

This is almost as upsetting as when she didn't have proper clothes but she's going to try not to cry about it.  She wants to go get a hug from Swan-san, but that would be counterproductive on this front.  It kind of feels like no one in the world cares about her, even though Swan-san is right over there and Haru... maybe does a little, or something; she's not sure.  But she's used to the big impersonal structures that decide how she spends her time caring if she's wasting huge blocks of it.

"It will probably," Jisho, "depend on our teacher."

"I will sleep during the time for school on Wednesday.  Maybe I can work on what I miss in English class."

"I think our English homework will not take us very long even if our teacher is stupid."

"But it says bad things.  All things we learn at school, we will learn from people who say that this is good..."

"It is expensive to have many teachers. We are going to the school where Mama works. Mama works at this school to teach English. Most students at this school do not know English..." Jisho. "Already."

"I do not need a teacher.  I need to be not in the room with an English class, and do work that will help me, and not play that I am in English class.  To learn is not a game."

"It is expensive to have many teachers. So there will be one teacher, and about thirty students."

"A chair is not expensive," she declares.  "...And the school has, a room with many books.  I saw it.  I can go there, if I have to be with an adult and not outside of a room."

"It was okay for you to wear the gym clothes if every child wears the gym clothes. I think maybe it is okay for some children to have to learn English if every child is in the class. And if we sat in the library, then maybe they would have a problem."

"I will never have a problem.  The school could say, 'Kennedy-chan can go to the library until she makes one problem.'  This would not say bad things of the school to me, and I will never make a problem."

"The other children might have a problem, so the teachers might have a problem. Before she said she would work at this school, Mama had to check, is it okay if Haru sits and does not run, because running will break his bones. And they said, okay. But she did not check, is it okay if also other stuff is different for my one kid. And she did not know about you at all."

"I know that my way of school is expensive and not normal, but I learn today that the normal way of school is this bad."

"If you want, you can ask the," Jisho, help, "social worker to go somewhere else without normal school."

"....I don't know.  - I will take a shower now."
