Beau flips up his current book to show Haru the cover.  With sufficient knowledge of French, it reads Le Tour du soleil en quarante ans over a markedly-accurate oil painting of Saturn.  Jules Verne.

"- brilliant, you have good taste. If you don't return them they cost money? Like normal amounts or unfathomable ones."

"Normal amounts."

"Awesome. You've been very helpful, want me to buy you a book?"

"Oh, sure!  Thank you.  Are you going to hang around for a while?  This one's pretty good so far but I'd like to know whether it sticks the landing.  ...Alternatively you could get my next meal, which buys more reading time here.  If you're going to be around."

"I expect to be here for maybe kind of a while and I'm happy to buy you - what meal are you on, lunch? - particularly if Bar can take a tap to pay -"

But of course.

"There." Tap.

"...Wow, thank you."  He is very slightly splotchy of the face.  "I just had lunch not too long ago, will that keep?  I won't get anything too expensive."

"Bar, can I just get him some kind of meal voucher?"

Meanwhile there is a girl with rainbow hair and a really big thick beverage that might be more of a soup that she's sipping her way through. She is holding a teapot and her hair keeps shifting through rainbow colors.

Julien waves at her on his way over to Haru.

"Hi I got curious so I thought I should come over."  (But not curious enough to have picked up any backlash, apparently.)

"Hi Julien." Handhold? A speck of backlash in a situation that is social anyway isn't impairing but what if he didn't have it anyway. "I don't know what you're curious about, I assume you already asked Beau all the obvious questions about Milliways."

"Not really!  Just introductions and that Bar was a person I could talk to, and then I went over to her.  And then the kids showed up a couple minutes later.  ...Maybe more than a couple minutes but I think not more than twenty.  I did an experiment with my phone clock so it's hard to say."

"Ah, well, apparently she's also a library and has alternate universe Jules Verne books among presumably billions of other things."

"I think there are also objects?  Not weapons, thankfully.  But objects."

"Medium-sized nonweapon nonliving nonmagical objects," chirps Mimoto.

"Ooohh.  That still leaves some technology from our world, unless nearly all useful dungeon mats are inherently magical or something regardless of whether humans can reverse engineer them..."

"I bet they're not! Bar, are dungeon materials magical - let's say Lahore foam, is that magical -"

Lahore foam is not magical.

"Ehehehehe.  Mimoto, if we send you home with a bunch of reverse-engineerable material samples, do you think you'll be able to get them somewhere they'll be useful?  I can get you the addresses of some labs."
